University of Georgia Summer Academy Camp
Mission Microbe: The Outbreak Investigation
Mission Microbe: The Outbreak Investigation is a limited-space, one-week specialty academic STEM camp for middle school students ages 11–13, held on the University of Georgia (UGA) campus. In this immersive experience, students step into the role of junior microbiologists to crack the case of a simulated foodborne illness outbreak. Through hands-on lab experiments, team-based investigations, and real-world problem-solving, campers explore how microorganisms grow, spread, and impact food safety and human health all while experiencing science in a true university setting.

Students will apply critical thinking, teamwork, and inquiry skills to understand the science behind disease prevention, mirroring the real processes used by the FDA and food scientists to protect public health.
Mission Microbe: The Outbreak Investigation will be held on the University of Georgia (UGA) campus from July 6–10, 2026. Families may choose between a Day Camp option ($530) or an Overnight Camp experience ($1,255), which includes supervised lodging and extended programming for a fully immersive campus experience. We’re excited to welcome students to UGA for an engaging, hands-on science experience in a safe and supportive environment.
